Beyond Salary: Redefining Software Engineer Compensation
Softengi’s CTO, Illia Gandzeichuk, discusses how AI token usage creates a paradigm shift in software engineering economics.

Client: A central government body overseeing national administrative services.

Challenge: Ensure efficient vaccine logistics and management to support successful immunization.

Solution: An electronic database for the inventory of vaccines and medical commodities.

Building Smarter Vaccine Logistics for Public Health

Vaccination is crucial in fostering the population’s health and social development. To make immunization successful, the client requested a system for vaccine management.

Real-Time Data for Better Vaccine Supply Decisions

The Vaccine Logistics Management Information System (VLMIS) project introduced a modern electronic database to inventory vaccines and medical commodities at the national, regional, and district levels.

VLMIS was designed to improve the processes, visibility, and quality of real-time inventory data in warehouses:

  • Forecasting, order management.
  • Warehousing, storage conditions monitoring.
  • Managing supplies and stock.
  • Business intelligence and data gathering.
  • Reports generation.

VLMIS Modules and Functions

Vaccines require strict temperature control throughout the supply chain, making effective cold chain management essential. To support the client in maintaining vaccine quality and availability, we developed a set of system modules covering key cold chain management processes.

Forecasting and Ordering

VLMIS supports data-driven vaccine procurement planning, helping organizations determine what to order, when to order it, and in what quantities. Forecasts can incorporate immunization schedules, population projections, expected stock balances, wastage rates, and other procurement factors, while relevant legal and regulatory information remains accessible within the system.

Warehousing

The warehousing module provides centralized control over vaccine and injection-supply inventory. Automated stock movements between organizational units reduce manual data entry, while contract details, delivery schedules, invoicing, and inventory records are managed within a single system.

Reporting

The reporting module consolidates supply and inventory data from multiple sources into a structured reporting environment. It supports the digitization of paper-based reports, the automated aggregation of data, and the controlled publication of selected information through a dedicated web portal.

Contract and Supply Management

Vaccine Logistics Management Information System (VLMIS) #9

VLMIS brings vaccine contracts and supply schedules into one centralized environment. Procurement teams can record contract terms, planned deliveries, and supplier information, providing a clear view of supply commitments and supporting better coordination of incoming stock.

Business Intelligence

The BI module turns vaccine supply data into actionable visual insights. Decision-makers can monitor inventory levels across warehouses, analyze vaccine quantities and distribution, identify supply patterns, and use real-time dashboards to support procurement and allocation decisions.

Security

The system incorporates security controls designed to protect sensitive vaccine supply and inventory data. Access management and dedicated controls for areas such as transportation and cold chain operations help safeguard information while ensuring that authorized users have access to the data required for their roles.

A More Efficient Way to Manage Vaccine Supplies

Addressing the urgent needs of vaccine accounting, VLMIS provided the Sanitary and Epidemiologic Service with a simplified procedure for purchasing, distributing, and redistributing vaccines between warehouses and medical institutions, including inventory control.

  • Improve vaccine quantification.
  • Support rational decision-making.
  • Ensure uninterrupted vaccine availability.
  • Reduce shortages, surpluses, and losses.
  • Improve profitability.
  • Enhance patient satisfaction.
