Construction sites can change quickly, and supervisors cannot always see an emergency, incident, or equipment problem as it happens. When workers and machinery are spread throughout a site, critical information may reach the responsible person too late. 

Construction companies need a way to track site conditions in real time and send immediate alerts to the monitoring center and personnel responsible for responding to incidents.

AI and IoT for Proactive Construction Site Safety

Softengi collaborated with a major European industrial manufacturer to develop Smart Site Safety Solution (4S), an AI and IoT-powered system designed to reduce the risk of serious and fatal injuries at construction sites.

The solution combines stationary and wearable IoT devices, sensors, video cameras, and a Video Management System (VMS) to collect and process real-time data from the worksite. AI and machine learning algorithms analyze video feeds and sensor readings to identify safety risks, detect incidents, and track site conditions. 

The system sends alerts and status updates to a central monitoring center and supervisors’ mobile devices, enabling faster responses to dangerous situations.

Softengi implemented two modern technologies to monitor compliance with safety requirements, track workers’ activity, and identify potential hazards on construction sites:

An AI-based safety risk management module, supported by zone beacons, monitors access to hazardous areas and gas concentrations. The system can be configured to meet individual site requirements, including compatibility with various video camera types and sensor configurations.
